Iron Networks today announced the validation of the IronPOD converged infrastructure solution for the Microsoft Private Cloud Fast Track Program version 3.0. The IronPOD solution brings a complete end to end converged solution using the Microsoft Cloud OS on industry standard hardware that is fully software defined using Windows Server 2012 Storage Spaces and Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V network virtualization technology.
"We are happy to be a part of the Microsoft Private Cloud Fast Track Program," says Robert Keith, CTO of Iron Networks, "customers can now enjoy a complete industry standard hardware stack running on Windows Server 2012 Storage Spaces, without a proprietary SAN, in a turnkey and supported fashion."
The Microsoft Cloud OS strategy envisions one consistent platform across customer datacenters, the Microsoft Azure public cloud, and service provider clouds, leveraging shared technologies for virtualization, systems management, development and identity,” said Claude Lorenson, senior product marketing manager, Microsoft Cloud Platform marketing. “The Private Cloud Fast Track program with Windows Server and System Center delivers on this strategy, providing customers and partners with a validated reference architecture that they can deploy with confidence.”
MICROSOFT PRIVATE CLOUD FAST TRACK is a reference architecture for building private clouds that combines Microsoft software, consolidated guidance, and validated configurations from hardware partners. The version 3.0 architecture is built on the Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V technology and System Center 2012 SP1 solutions. Microsoft private cloud offerings can help customers and service providers build dedicated infrastructure as a service (IaaS) environments that transform the way they deliver IT services. Specifically, Microsoft Private Cloud Fast Track solutions provide a streamlined approach to delivering scalable, preconfigured, and validated infrastructure platforms for on-premises private cloud implementations. With local control over data and operations, IT can dynamically pool, allocate, secure, and manage resources for agile IaaS. Likewise, business units can deploy line-of-business applications with speed and consistency using self-provisioning (and decommissioning) and automated data center services in a virtualized environment.
IRON Networks IronPOD converged system products simplify Microsoft infrastructure deployments by integrating Microsoft’s new software defined datacenter software (SDDC), “The Cloud OS” and industry-standard network, compute and storage hardware; all integrated and supported as a single optimized turnkey configuration SKU. IRON offers enterprise and service provider class system platform designs that integrates all of the Microsoft modern datacenter technologies into a single model that abstracts all the complexity and brings together networking, server, storage, virtualization, automation, flexibility and scalability into a single converged cloud platform; all of it coupled with simplified deployment and serviceability services offerings. This creates a highly optimized cloud infrastructure solution that is complete, simple to acquire and deploy.
